Jimmy Carter, born October 1, 1924, is now 99 years old. He became the oldest living president in history after George H.W. Bush died in 2018 at the age of 94. Carter's grandson, Jason Carter, said Tuesday that the 99-year-old 39th president of the United States is "doing well" and is "looking forward to celebrating his 100th birthday" in October.

Carter, a Democrat, served one term as president from 1977 to 1981. He is best known for his work on human rights and his efforts to promote peace in the Middle East. Since leaving office, Carter has remained active in public life, working through the Carter Center to promote democracy and human rights around the world.

In 2002, Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.

Carter is a remarkable man who has dedicated his life to serving others. He is an inspiration to us all, and we wish him all the best as he approaches his 100th birthday.
