Maike Hausberger Wins Germany's Fifth Gold at Beijing Winter Paralympics

Hausberger's Victory Extends Germany's Dominance in Alpine Events

German Para alpine skier Maike Hausberger has captured the fifth gold medal for her country at the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics, triumphing in the women's standing downhill event on Saturday.

Hausberger, 29, clocked a time of 1:33.94 to finish ahead of Austria's Renate Gruber (1:34.64) and Slovakia's Barbara Trunk (1:37.54).

This gold medal is Hausberger's second of the Games, having previously won the women's standing super-G on Thursday. She now has a total of six Paralympic medals, including two golds, two silvers, and two bronzes.

  • Hausberger's victory extends Germany's dominance in alpine events at the Beijing Paralympics.
  • Germany has now won five of the six gold medals awarded in alpine skiing so far.
