What is SASSA?

How to Check Sassa Status Online

There are two ways to check your Sassa status online:

1. Through the SASSA website
2. Via SMS

Through the SASSA website

1. Go to the SASSA website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
2. Enter your ID number and mobile phone number in the fields provided.
3. Click on the "Submit" button.
4. Your SASSA status will be displayed on the screen.

Via SMS

1. Send an SMS to 082 046 8553.
2. In the message, enter your ID number.
3. Your Sassa status will be sent to you via SMS.

What does your SASSA status mean?

Your SASSA status will tell you whether your application has been approved, declined, or is still pending. If your application has been approved, you will be able to collect your grant from your nearest SASSA pay point. If your application has been declined, you can appeal the decision by sending an email to appeals@sassa.gov.za.
